USS MELBOURNE ~THE ADVENTURE BEGINS~ I and the crew of the melbourne have begun arriving at avalon shipyards.the refit of the melbourne is complete all department heads have reported ready status to depart avalon.one repluse class combat runabout the uss blackhawk was delivered to the melbourne thus completing it's complement of auxillary craft .one tragedy has already befallen the melbourne lt.zip diamond was unfortunatly killed when the shuttle he was flying slammed into an asteroid at full impulse speed.the reason for this tragedy has yet to be explained a full investigation is underway.the melbourne was rechristened today in a large ceremony with commodore roi presiding the ceremony was followed by a large party in tenforward aboard the melbourne after which we departed avalon for our first mission. ~END CAPTAIN'S LOG ~MISSION COMPLETE~ 

 

USS MELBOURNE ~THE Aftermath~ Commodores log stardate 60112.4 i must report on the events of the last week...task force 58 of which the melbourne is apart of.were involved in a massive push against cardassia and the dominion.we were assigned to intercept a convoy of ketracel white....at first the battle went well the melbourne personally destroyed 7 cardassian and jem hadar ships....we were on a final run toward one of two freighters that were actually carrying the white..when our two escort ships were blow out of the stars the uss firehawk was vaporized by dominion weapons.the intrepid class didn't fare as well.it was swiped by a jem hadar fighter and took out the melbournes weapons pod as it spun out of controle...shrapnel from the damaged vessel tore into melbournes hull....severing helm controle and a few other major systems....the dominion most have thought we were trying to ram the convoy....they launced six jem hadar fighters to intercept us......unable to stop us the squdron turned around and ramed one by one into the saucer section of the melbourne......inital estimates of casualitys in the first two collisions are 188 people....when all was said and done almost 500 people were killed or injured aboard.and the melbourne herself was damaged heavily.....most of her saucer section was destroyed...and her stardrive section took quite a beating....by all acounts and purposes....no one should hAve gotten off of her alive......the remaining crew and myself are being taken to avalonshipyards....along with the uss melbourne....i am to be reassigned to another vessel i anticipate most of my crew will also........and the melbourne is going to be rebuilt......starfleet projects 24 months of repair and refit.....i am deeply saddend by all that has happened..but i know one day the melbourne will be repaired......and i and my crew will be back on her bridge once again............................... OVER TEN YEARS AGO THE NEWLY BUILT USS MELBOURNE AND USS LAGER ARE CALLED OUT OF THE UTOPIA PLANETIA SHIP YARDS NOT YET FINISHED TO INTERCEPT A LONE BORG CUBE HEADED FOR EARTH.
